Scholar-architect Mark Alan Hewitt will introduce key figures in the Philadelphia School, a circle of Philadelphia architects who flourished from the 1880s until the late 1970s. The T-Square Club formed soon after the 1876 Centennial Exposition, and quickly rose to national prominence. The lecture will explore the School’s history and show how Keen benefitted from its cooperative network of mentorship, social support, and creative synergy. It will conclude with a review of the particular ideas that are evident in the design of Reynolda House and Gardens.

About the House: A Lecture Series on Reynolda’s Architecture is co-sponsored by the Institute for Classical Architecture and Art.
