Holiday Festivities for Young and Old at Reynolda House Museum of American Art

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (November 25, 2008) Reynolda House Museum of American Art will host several holiday activities for the community, including a Holiday Party for Older Adults and the Children's Festival of Giving and Light. The events are free and open to the public.
The Holiday Party for Older Adults will be held on Monday, December 8 at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the vocal quartet Holiday Harmony, singing traditional holiday songs and carols dressed in Dickensian costume. The string ensemble Holiday Grove will also perform holiday favorites. Art created by participants in the museum's art program for older adults will be on display on the gallery level, and refreshments will follow the musical program. On Friday, December 12 Reynolda House will host the Children's Festival of Giving and Light. Children who arrive by 3:30 p.m. may participate in an art activity, creating a special ornament in the art studio. At 4 p.m. the program will begin in the auditorium, featuring a performance by Crescendo, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Honors Chorus, and story-telling by Reynolda House's own Cynthia Leonard. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and the suggested ages are four through twelve.
